Sullia, Dec 11: In busy working days of modern times it is difficult to monitor the movements of the public. However, Sampaje gram panchayat of the taluk is keeping continuous watch on all the areas that fall under its limits by installing CCTV cameras. Town centers like Kallugundi and Sampaje areas have numerous cameras which record the movement of the general public.
Sampaje gram panchayat is identified as a model gram panchayat. It utilizes all the assets in a proper manner and also gets good revenue. In the panchayat building there is a panchayat office on the ground floor while the top floor has a well-equipped library. This library has more than 5000 books with seating arrangements for the readers also.
During Covid lockdown, students who could not afford or were not getting a network for online education were provided shelter in the gram panchayat building. It also distributed stitching machines to members of Sanjeevini group. It also gave them facility to work in the gram panchayat building.
Sampaje gram panchayat is getting good revenue from office, Anganwadi, auditorium and guest house. New vehicle is bought for handling of garbage in the gram panchayat limits. This panchayat has received national awards for its style of functioning. It has been honoured twice with Gandhi Gram Puraskar of the union government.
