Beltangady, Dec 13: Bargula is the name of an area which is beautiful and spacious, which is located in the cradle of River Kapila. Shibaje forest range is located next to River Kapila which flows gently and quietly. Amid this rich nature, a couple exchanged wedding woes, duly witnessed by hundreds of nature lovers who had gathered there.
This was a unique scene witnessed on Sunday December 12 at the wedding ceremony of Gopika from Madanthyar and Dinesh from Kundapur. The couple wanted to add a touch of sublimity to their marriage.
There were no pandals, pomp and show at Bargula where the wedding was solemnized. The marriage was held on the riverbank that had a yard covered with green grass. The venue was made more beautiful by artists who used coconut fronds, bananas, coconuts etc which were tastefully used to give it a touch of serenity and divinity.
Gopika happens to be a lecturer of a private college in Mangaluru. Dinesh is employed in a government department at Mangaluru. The marriage took place in a place adjacent to the farm of Shivaram Shishila, an artist who has won national award.
A team of environmental activist Dinesh Holla, Sachin Bhide and Shashidhar Shetty had tastefully prepared the venue for the marriage. The splendour of Tulunadu folklore and culture complete with arch created with coconut plants, umbrella of Ati Kalenja and artistic creations using coconut fronds attracted the attention of the entire gathering.
Shishila expressed happiness at the fact that the marriage took place in traditional style in the middle of nature without wasting resources, environment and food.
