Mangaluru, Dec 18: A woman has filed a complaint in the cyber crime police station here about having been cheated to the extent of Rs 2,94,830 by way of transfer from her bank account.
The lady has her account in Union Bank's Padavu branch. Her husband is employed in a flour mill.
A person who claimed himself as Aman and working in the army, called the woman on her phone and evinced interest in buying maida flour. He asked her to forward to him the QR code to remit funds.

As the company for which her husband works and he did not have any QR code, the woman provided her own QR code to the caller. Later, the stranger contacted her on mobile, sought QR code, and withdrew Rs 2,94,830 in phases.
Cyber crime police have registered a case and begun investigation.
