Mangaluru, Dec 21: After a swarm of giant honeybees from a beehive that had taken shape on a residential complex on the main road at Moorukaveri near Kinnigoli got agitated and went on a stringing spree of two-wheeler riders and pedestrians, eight persons suffered injuries and got admitted into a hospital at Kinnigoli. The incident happened on Monday December 20.
The bees went on a rampage when the staff of Canara Lighting were moving in their motorbikes. Ravi from Golijora Neeralike, and Sooryakanth, teacher of the Rotary School at Morukaveri, who suffered severe injuries, were admitted into the intensive care units of the hospital. The others who were admitted into the hospital are Richard Nazareth Moorukaveri, Riviyan Moorukaveri, Sharat Poojary Maradka, Albert D'Souza and Manohar Muchoor. They were provided with first aid.

Kinnigoli town panchayat chief officer Sayeesh Chowta, forest officer Nageshi Billava, staff Raju L J and Santosh visited the spot of the incident and also the hospital.
