Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 24: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, December 24, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 13 cases.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,267 out of which 166 are currently active.
As many as 14 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,700.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,10,29,670 as fine in 91,354 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,46,167 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 13 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 77,008 out of which 37 are currently active.
A total of 4 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday. Coronavirus has claimed 478 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,55,696 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,09,917 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
