Udupi, Dec 27: "Why should one oppose anti-conversion law? Action will be taken against those who forcefully convert," said Kannada and Culture minister V Sunil Kumar.
He further said, “Why should one worry who does not convert? This law is not implemented that Hindus will convert to Christianity. No one should lure to convert to their religion. The people who oppose the law have their own hidden agenda. We have also included the issue of ‘Love Jihad’ in this law. One should not get married with the intention to convert. The bill should get approved by the council.
“This is not the law done targeting the Christian missionaries. This is the law to protect the downtrodden.
“Is there any intention behind the social service of Christian missionaries? This is the law against the conversion in the name of service,” he said.
On night curfew in the state, he said, “Night curfew will be implemented for 10 days in the state. This is implemented considering the health of people. This measure has been taken to prevent the unnecessary movement of people.
“On December 30, there will be another on the same issue. Protecting people's health is the first priority. If the cases of corona increase, people will blame the government. The government will never tell to celebrate the New Year. In my life, I have never celebrated the New Year. I am celebrating the New Year during Ugadi. We cannot tell others to follow the same. Celebrating the New Year during Ugadi is our culture. The government will not stop the people from celebrating the New Year,” he added.
