Udupi: Udayakumar Shetty to Compete in Athletic Championship at Malaysia

Udupi, Dec 3: H Udayakumar Shetty who is working as a senior medical lab technologist in the district survey department, has been selected to represent India at the 16th Asian Master Athletic Championship to be held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Monday December 6 to 12.

He is the secretary of Karnataka State Government Workers’ Union, district branch. He has been selected to Asian Championship for his achievements in national and international master athletic championship held in Lucknow and Pune respectively.

Moreover he has been participating in state level Government Employees’ Sports Meet representing undivided Dakshina Kannada district since 1992 and also has bagged many awards. He participated in All India Citizen Service Sports Meet in Pune and Bangalore during 2006 and 2007 respectively and secured 4th place in 400m running race and 400m hurdles.
 
Government Employees Union president Subrahmanya Sherigar said that Udayakumar was felicitated by the district administration on Republic Day celebration in 2009 for his achievements.
