Highly Successful Mangalore Travel Mart Bids Farewell to City

Mangalore, Dec 4: The valedictory ceremony of coastal Karnataka's first travel exhibition, 'Mangalore Travel Mart 2010 - Exhibition' organized by Mangalore Travel Association was held on Saturday December 4 at 5.30pm at Milagres Jubilee Hall here.
 
Seemanth Kumar Singh, commissioner of Police presided over the programme. In his presidential address, he said that Mangalore Travel Association by organizing Travel Mart in city has provided a single platform for national organisations, people from tour, travel and other fields to come together and bring out suggestions and solutions for better development of the industry.

Calling the city an up-and-coming tourism hub, he said that most of the heritage places in north Karnataka are yet to be explored. Pointing out the flow of passengers from the city to Mumbai, he sought to explore waterways as Karnataka seashore too has ample backwater scenic spots.
 
Prabhakar Shenoy, DGM, marketing and publicity, Corporation Bank, K G Ramesh Rao, DGM, planning and development, Karnataka Bank Ltd, Vasudeva Rao, director of Mangalore Airport, Roshan Pinto, president, Mangalore Association of Travel Agents, Louis J Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann were the guests of honor.

The mart included exhibitors such as Indian and state tourism boards, railway, cruise line, travel and tour planners and organizers, travel agency, hotels and resorts, hill station, beach, health and Ayurvedic resorts, adventure sports and eco tourism, travel related services, banks and car rental associations among others.

    It is good to see that a forum for showcasing tourism and travel industry is now available in Mangalore. I am sure this would be a larger even in the years to come, and the industry itself takes advantage of this. Mr. Roshan Pinto who breathes tourism must be supported well by all of us in the endeavour. Congrats.
