The efforts by VBWO in sponsoring a social, cultural programme in memory of great son of Mulki/DK dist late Shri Mulki Sunderram Shetty, the architect of modern Vijaya Bank is realy commendable.Erstwhile DK district is the credle of banking which has given birth to five banks which have national and international presence today and four been nationalsed, made big contrubutions to the dist/state in particular and nation in general. The robust growth of Vijaya Bank especially robust growth iof Vijaya Bank during 70s was a landmark achievement in those days.Unlike other banks, while remembering founding father of this great institution, along with Late Sri Attavara Balakrishna Shetty,Late Sri Mulki Sunderram Shetty's name also comes instantly for the unique reason that, had there been no Late Sri Sunderram Shetty, there would not been Vijaya Bank what we are seeing today. He took the charge of the Bank when it was about to merge with other big banks and many small banks have started merging with other big banks.Sri Sunderram Shetty after taking over the charge, made a turn around and rest is the history. He had a great vision about the farming community of the soceity and concern for younger generation which resulted in thousands of jobs without caste, creed or religion. That was his greatness.More significant is he was a true nation builder as this bank was first in making a national presence in allmost all states in early early years of its growth.Long live Sunderram Shety legacy.
