Kundapur, Jan 4: Police of town arrested two inter-state thieves from Pune, who had stolen golden ornaments from the Ora Fine Jewellery company, which had put up a stall at the UVA Meridian Hall at Koteshwar on the occasion of gold and diamond jewellery exhibition.
The arrested are identified as Dhanraj Vijay Parmar (42), resident of Keshavanagar of Haveli taluk of Pune and Ajaysingh Kishoresalanke (23) also from the same village.
Both were arrested from Pune and gold worth Rs one lac was confiscated from them. They were produced in court on Monday. They are subjected to judicial custody.
The exhibition took place from November 27 to 29, 2020. On November 29, two women and one man, who posed as customers, visited the Ora Fine Jewellery outlet and stole two golden bangles. Their act was captured on CCTV. The bangles weigh 43 grams and are valued at Rs 2.86 lac. A case in this connection was registered in Kundapur police station.
Team led by sub inspector (SI) Sadashiva Gavaroji and investigation SI Ramesh R Pawar, guided by senior officials, collected information about the accused and used latest technology to apprehend them.
Probationary SIs Chandrakala Pathara, Jayashree Hunoora, ASI Sudhakara, Shivananda, Dinesh, Nitin, employees of district police office, personnel Santhosh Kumar K U, Sachin Shetty, Rama Poojary and Ravi Naika took part in the operation.
