Jan 4: Dakshina Kannada reports 75 corona cases, one death; Udupi records 72 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 4: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, January 4, reported 75 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 72 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,620 out of which 341 are currently active.

As many as 7 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,703 including one on Tuesday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,11,30,530 as fine in 92,043 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,92,579 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 72 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 77,320 out of which 282 are currently active.

A total of 10 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far.

So far 9,86,307 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,44,957 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

    At least close schools from 1st to 5th below 10yrs they are too small and thy are hardly wearing mask in schools....
