State Govt Yields to Lokayukta, Amends Judicial Probe Terms

Bangalore, Dec 6 (PTI): Seeking to avoid a showdown with the Lokayukta, the BJP government in Karnataka today decided to keep land scams already under investigation by the anti-corruption watchdog out of the purview of the judicial probe it had ordered.

"All the cases where investigation is already in progress by Lokayukta as on November 18, 2010 are excluded from the purview of the judicial commission of inquiry," a government notification said here.

Lokayukta Santosh Hegde had come out strongly against the government for ordering the judicial probe into the land scams when the issue was pending before him. He had maintained that his agency would continue with the inquiry on the complaints it had received about irregularities in allotment of land by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) and also over the allegations pertaining to denotification of lands.

The Lokayukta police last week registered FIRs against former housing minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his corporator son, Jagadish and 10 others in connection with the alleged irregularities in KIADB.

Naidu became the first political victim of the spate of land scams that besieged the B S Yeddyurappa government when he quit the ministry. The Yeddyurappa government which faced a series of allegations of illegal denotification and allotment of lands by KIADB and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on November 22 appointed retired high court judge B Padmaraj to head the commission of inquiry into the charges from the period Janaury 1, 1995 to November 18, 2010.

However, the government had to face the ire of Hegde, who questioned the government "unilaterally" ordering the judicial probe into cases which his agency has already been probing and accused it of "ignoring the institution of Lokayukta".

The state government last week sought his advise on finding a solution to the judicial probe row, which has also entered into the portals of the high court with a PIL being filed for a direction on the nature of enquiry to be conducted into the land scams.

Mr. Rajesh Kamath, B’lore, you are blinded with the support for BJP hence you could not reason and know the truth. Mr. Santosh Hegde will never be carried away by anybody. Please don't stoop that low and sling political mud at his credibility. He is an honest son of this soil, be proud of his honesty and integrity.

There is one doubt about Mr. Hegde. Now Lokayuktha is having good reputation in public. We all must know he is BJP person. It looks like that Lokayuktha is very straight forward and punishes all culprits. When all investigation is done and if Mr. Hegde gives report that neither Yeddi nor his team is not involved in land scam, what will be next step? Remember it is BJP and Yeddi and RSS. They are more dangerous or equal to Bin Laden.

Mr Rajesh Kamath, you should be ashamed your self to question the crediblity of Mr Santhosh Hegde. Just look at his Charm when you meet him or see him in the media. Speaks out from heart without anything to hide. Even though from the time of Justice KS Hedge the family is close to BJP, Justice Santhosh Hegde never favored sides when it comes to his duties. Even I am a supportor of BJP and at the same time against the policies of vote bank politics of Congress.
But that doesnt mean that all are saints in BJP. Mr Santhosh Hegde is the right person for this Job and only he can clense out the black sheeps in the politics, especially this chair hungry Yeddi. When BJP ruled states are returnign back to power with absolute majority by givving a better governance in states like Gujrath & Bihar, this Mad Cow Yeddi & his Chamcha almost useless cabinets except a hand few, have left no effort in clumbling down the image of BJP in Karnataka. They should all be brought down imidietly if BJP has to save grace for another 2 years. Deserving and non currupt leaders like Suresh Kumar, Ashok & Dr Acharya should be given a chance so that they can get back the lost faith. All the politicans and members in power of both ruling and opposition parties should be brought under the control of Lokayukta. And we should be proud that Justice Hegde is the man who can do this change and that he is from our district. God save & bless BJP and its time for the high command to wake up or sleep for ever.
