Mangaluru, Jan 5: “People of Karnataka have decided to throw out BJP from power. This is reflected in the recent elections that were held in the state. In the coming legislative assembly elections, Congress will get a clear majority. Thereby 2023 will be ‘Year of Congress’,” said KPCC president D K Shivakumar.
Responding to the accusation of BJP that Ramanagara incident proves goondaism of Congress, Shivakumar said, “The Ramanagara incident has shown the ‘Vishwaroopa’ of BJP. A minister should be aware of what to speak in the presence of the chief minister (CM). Though Bommai was making hand signs towards minister Ashwath Narayan not to use derogatory words, he continued his speech. BJP does not have a base in Ramanagara. So they are trying to put Congress in a bad frame in the minds of people. But due to this incident, BJP has lost a meagre number of votes that they had in the district.”
Giving his opinion on the Mekedatu issue and proposed foot march of Congress which is ridiculed by BJP as political gimmicks, Shivakumar said, “BJP calls ministers and holds Rathyatra. It is okay with them. When Congress fights for some genuine cause it is wrong. They are trying to stop our foot march using their power. Let CM start work on Mekedatu. We will support him.”
Speaking on the plan of Congress for next assembly elections, Shivakumar said, “We will make voters aware of the failure of the BJP government in all aspects of administration. They said that they will double the income of farmers. Every day the people of Karnataka are getting pickpocketed. Price of Petrol, Gas and Diesel is rising every day. They are saying that they have provided crop destruction compensation. Let them say to whom they have given?”
