Gadkari in Bangalore to Assess Damage to BJP's Image

Yeddyurappa will Continue as CM: Gadkari

Bangalore, Dec 7 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Tuesday ruled out replacing Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who is facing charges of illegal land deals.

"There is no question of change. Yeddyurappa will continue as chief minister," asserted Gadkari, who arrived here earlier Tuesday to assess the damage to BJP's image from allegations against the party's first government in south India.

The BJP chief said "the Yeddyurappa government's performance was outstanding on several fronts".

Gadkari said he inspected the work on the Metro, Ring Road and several flyovers and saw the functioning of a water treatment plant in Bangalore.

"I am impressed by the work and I congratulate Yeddyurappa and his colleagues," he told reporters after meetings with the chief minister, several ministers, party leaders and legislators.

Gadkari was confident that under the leadership of Yeddyurappa and state party chief K.S. Eshwarappa, the BJP will perform exceedingly well in the district and taluq panchayat elections scheduled for Dec 26 and 31.

He said he had told the state leaders to focus on a "policy of development and policy of progress. Karnataka should become the top state in the country in development".

Gadkari was accompanied by Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, who has been told to give "special attention" to Karnataka affairs.

The party's new Karnataka general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan also attended the meetings. The BJP leaders were on a day's visit to the state.

Gadkari's visit came in the backdrop of Yeddyurappa battling charges of favouring his close kin, including sons and daughter, with allotment of prime land in and around Bangalore.

Gadkari's visit, second to the state since he became the BJP chief, took place at a difficult time for the party, like his first visit.

He came to Bangalore in July to persuade Lok Ayukta (ombudsman) N. Santosh Hegde, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, to withdraw his resignation. Hegde had quit as he was upset at the way the Yeddyurappa government was handling the illegal iron ore mining issue. Hegde, son of former senior BJP vice president K.S. Hegde, later withdrew his resignation.

While Yeddyurappa has been given a breather by the BJP leadership to stay on as chief minister, he and the party's problems seem to be getting worse in the state.

Yeddyurappa's trusted aide Katta Subramanya Naidu quit Dec 3 as minister after state police registered a complaint against him over illegal allotment of 325 acres of land on Bangalore's outskirts. Also named in the Dec 2 police complaint are his Bangalore corporator son Katta Jagadish Naidu and eight of their associates.

Hegde is again unhappy with Yeddyurappa as he has ordered a probe into land deals by a retired Karnataka high court judge instead of entrusting the investigation to the Lok Ayukta.

Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has also expressed displeasure over the move. He told reporters here Sunday that the government had "done it deliberately to create confusion".

Vishal Udupi you have gone mad and out of you senses. Because Congress looted that means BJP should loot or what ? Nice Logic. You are Yeddy's brother. Yeddy also said the same thing. Other CM's looted so what if I loot. Great thinking Vishal.

    @Norman,

FYI, I am talking about Billions, not millions.
Yediyurappa might have favoured his family for buying the lands(any way he returned that back to government). Are you comparing this with Congress scandals?
The latest one, 2G spectrum scandal is worth of more than 2000 crores, besides 1400 billion dollars swiss bank account deposits since last 60 years.
In the state, each of the congress leaders own the engineering and medical colleges in their districts, from where did the money come from ?.
You are comparing ants with elephants. Recently, they disclosed all the landscams of Devegowda and his sons, do u know how much is that worth of?, are they going to give back all their illegal lands like Yediyurappa did?. I know media is not talking about that.

This is a political drama. Gadkeri does not need to come to Bangalore to see all the developments and give a clean chit to Yeddy. This is just dirty politics. On the one hand there are a lot of land scams and on the other over spending irrespective of all the problems Karnataka faces. Yeddy can't take all the underdeveloped villeges of Karnataka as developed. Look at the plight of Mangalore "Gudda" airport. Kerala people are bagging all the important international airport status. Now Gadkeri who had a spoiled wedding of his son spending crores for celebration, protections, transportation, for black cat coverage of security, has come to applaud Yeddy, who recently gave crores or a Crore to a temple. There will be more temples and less of roads and airports in Karnataka. This is unconcevable and cannot be digested. Doddanna - Damaskatte

Mr. Gadkari, the head of BJP is going to learn a great lesson from the Jr. political leader of Karnataka.

One student miser went to visit the Master miser in a far off place. He was welcomed by the master Miser cordially. The student miser told the m. Miser "while we are talking, there in no need of light, so let us switch off the light to save electricity".

After switching off the light, he took a long break. When the m.Miser asked the reason to the visiting Miser, the reply was "while we talk in darkness, nobdoy will see me naked. The newly ironed clothings need not to be stained while we talk in darkness" You are not going to see me naked in darkness.

The M. Miser laughed and said " you came all the way to learn from me about the modern technics
to be a master Miser, but I need to learn from you".

Mr. Gadkari is going to learn some greater lessons from the CM, because he knows more about politics than the BJP Master politician.

Gadkari has come to take the SCAM money Yeddy has kept for him. What this FATTY will do by coming here. What Damage Assessment he will do ? He himself spent 30 Crore for his sons Wedding two days ago. From where this money came from ? How much Yeddy gave him. He himself told Yeddy to continue as CM even after such a big SCAM broke out and he is the main Damager and now is come to ASSESS. Shameless person go back. CHOR has come to CHORS house. So funny. All are CHORS in BJP and how you can expect a fair Assessment ? Jaiteley is another Sample who knows nothing about Karnataka Politics. Ananthkumar who was handling Karnataka affairs has been shifted to Punjab as per the instructions of Yeddy as they don't see eye to eye. Yeddy also had instructed to shift Ananthkumar from Karnataka to some different State and for this also Gadkari agreed and did so. Now the HIGH COMMAND is YEDDY and not GADKARI. Things in BJP will move according to Yeddy and not Gadkari.

    There is some mystery behind
the visit of Mr. Gadkari at this
time, after conducting one of the
most expensive and lavish family wedding
    of the Indian history. That
created air traffic control problems at the Nagpur airport.

He is not a great political
    mechanic to fix the totally
    disabled BJP vehicle in Karnataka.
He is more of a radical side to
create infero, so his visit will
    not solve any problem, rather
    create more problems.

If the electorate of Karnataka can't
read the recent lessons, who can
    solve this political crisis?

One thing is sure that the CM
will be giving away crores of
Rs. to gods everywhere he can
find all across the nation to get
their help, so that the tax payers
are going to carry the extra burden.
