Mangaluru: MCC officials hold inspection drive, fine Covid rule violators

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 9: Taking serious cognisance of complaints received on several establishments operating, defying the Covid19 norms, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Health and Revenue department officials conducted an inspection drive on Saturday January 8.

A total of 43 cases of violation were found during the inspection. They were warned and were fined Rs 12,000 in total. Two trade licenses were also withdrawn by the officials.

It may be recalled, the state government and district administration have announced weekend curfew across Dakshina Kannada to curb the rising cases of 'Omicron’ Covid19 variant. According to the guidelines, no commercial establishments are allowed to function apart from essential and emergency services.

All bogus pictures to show people that they are doing some job in a corner area as the picture shows. May be this is only for one day. What about people without masks for essential items vendors, hotels, bus drivers/conductors, auto drivers, public on the roads, shops etc. they do not want do spot check on them. Or may be they take bribe and live them for name sake giving warning. This is all drama and the readers who have seen yesterday's pictures, police checking vehicle, to check and enquire one vehicle six police personnel round the car as if he is a terrorist. Instead of those extra police guys using for some other wor upk wisely.

Old saying are always true.Precaution is better then cure. Is it applicable to politicans or only to the common man. With 5 state elections around the corner the EC should take steps to stop all road show, to control this virus.
