Kasargod, Jan 9: Joseph (58), a fisherman from Tamil Nadu, who fell into the sea while fishing, reached the shore after swimming for 30 hours in the sea.
Joseph was one of the eight people on the boat that left for fishing from Mangaluru on December 31. When the fishermen on boat were taking rest around 2 am on January 6, Joseph went missing. The boat was at a distance of 36 nautical miles from the shore. Though the men on boat look for him till 11 am, they could not trace Joseph. They informed the matter to the owner of the boat.
The coastal police and Pandeshwar police station personnel were informed about the missing person. However, the police said that they will not file the case immediately and asked the complainant to wait for 24 hours.
Men on a boat which went for fishing on January 7 from Kasargod saw a man in the sea and was brought immediately to the shore and admitted to the hospital by Dinesh, Suresh and Sinan, who were on the boat. Later, it came to light that he is Joseph, who went missing. The matter was informed to Pandeshwar police station.
Kasargod police have started an investigation. They are saying that Joseph is giving contradictory statement about the incident.
