Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 9: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, January 9, reported 298 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 340 cases.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,17,641 out of which 1,267 are currently active.
As many as 24 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,705, including one death on Sunday.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,11,61,030 as fine in 92,058 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
A total of 340 new cases were reported on Sunday. Udupi reported 262, Kundapura 29 and 49 cases from Karkala.
A total of 77 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday. Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far.
So far 1,00,60,065 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,51,514 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
