Udupi, Dec 9: A youngster from Chikmagalur drowned in the Arabian Sea at Kaup, near here, on Thursday December 9, while swimming with his friends.

The deceased is 20-year-old Kiran, son of Home Guards personnel Kantaraj, and a resident of Tarikere, Chikmagalur district. Kiran was working as a sales executive with a solar company in Bangalore. He had come with his friends from Tarikere to attend the wedding ceremony of his friend at Vaishnavi Hall, Manipal, here.

Kiran and his friends arrived at the Kaup sea shore on Thursday evening after attending the wedding ceremony and went swimming despite warnings from the locals. Kiran was swept away by a big wave.

Local swimmer Padmabha Suvarna and Kaup beach boating assistant Shankar Byndoor tried to rescue Kiran, but their attempts were in vain. The body has not yet been recovered.

I make Authorities responsible for this incident. Police / Tourism dept.should take responsibility and guide innocent tourist / visitors on this dangerous spot of coastal. Police dept.is there for only taking charge after every incident. Their responsibility also comes to avoid all these incident. Those who comes from outside coastal belt do not know the dangerous part of beach. This is sad.

The sea in these areas is quite rough and dangerous. Today, this youngster lost his life because he did not heed to the warnings of the locals. I really feel sad for the parents and pray God to give them strength to bear this loss.
