Puttur, Jan 10: It is learnt that a deputy range forest officer here has expressed his views about Hinduism and its leaders on social media. His use of provocative language and lewd words have come under fire.
In his Facebook account, the deputy range forest officer here, Sanjeev Kaniyoor, has created posts which show Hinduism and religious leaders in poor light. These posts have been widely shared in social websites and the people are quite critical of the official.
People in general resent the fact that Kaniyoor, who is an on duty official of the government, has given a wrong message to the society by using unparliamentary and obscene words. He has tried to hurt the sentiments of Hindus and attempted to meddle with social harmony besides committing dereliction of duty, many have claimed.
The official has used objectionable words about the Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Brahmins and the cows. The people have demanded action against the official.
Clarifying his stand to a Kannada daily, Sanjeev Kaniyoor said that he is a person who takes the side of the poor and the exploited classes and fights for them. He added that he is forthright and believes in calling a spade a spade. "I point out wrongs whenever I come across them. I have no fear or hesitation as far as revealing the truth is concerned," he stated.
