Bangalore: Yeddy Rubbishes Sonia’s Charges

Bangalore, Dec 15 (DHNS): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has challenged UPA Chief and Congress president Sonia Gandhi to produce evidence of corruption charges levelled against him and the BJP government in the State.

In his letter to Sonia Gandhi on December 14, he stated that she had criticised the BJP government in Karnataka both in Parliament and at the Congress Parliamentary Board meeting. All the charges are baseless and made with the intention of maligning the government, he stated.

Referring to the disrupted parliamentary proceedings over the 2G Spectrum scam, the Chief Minister said Parliament could not transact business  “putting the entire nation to shame.”

He also added that there was no prima facie case made out against him unlike in the 2G Spectrum scam faced by the UPA government.

Yeddyurappa further said that corruption charges were levelled against both S M Krishna and N Dharam Singh as chief ministers of Karnataka. Also, the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly had published a booklet charging them with denotifying land. Will the Congress probe into the charges, he questioned.

Moreover, he claimed that the Centre had recognised the State’s performance in the past two-and-a half years. The State had won an award under the Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Incentive Scheme and was also ranked second at the national level in implementing the 20-point development programme. For e-procurement, the State received a national award and an Asia-level award.
