Jan 19: Dakshina Kannada reports 983 fresh Covid cases, three deaths; Udupi adds 683

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 19: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, January 19, reported 983 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 683 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,24,288 out of which 5,574 are currently active.

As many as 370 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,714. Out of which 3 deaths were reported on Wednesday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,13,51,930 as fine in 93,762 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 683 new cases were reported on Wednesday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 4,764.

 A total of 220 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. Coronavirus has claimed 491 lives in the district so far.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

    There's alot of viral in city...its so confusing for people to guess if its covid or viral...this point of time atleast the schools.for.smaller kids could.be closed as thy get first infected in school.and then get it home... Why risk the kids
