Karnataka's daily Covid tally shoots up with over 47,000 new cases

Bengaluru, Jan 20:Karnataka on Thursday, January 20 registered 47,754 new coronavirus cases.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 2,93,231. Bengaluru Urban's single-day tally stood at 30540.

As many as 29 death due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Thursday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 8 deaths, the death toll in the state has risen to 38,515.

The state recorded 22,143 discharges from hospitals on Thursday, taking the total discharges to 30,45,177.

So far, Karnataka has seen 33,76,953 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 18.48% while the case fatality rate for the day is 0.06%.

    Just one more day to overtake Maharashtra in terms of active cases.... Bommai proved to most ineffective CM, who could do nothing to stop Congress padayatra..... Neither people have respect / fear of Government nor Government is able to inspire the people..... Unscientific lockdown closing down only Textiles, Electronics & Footwear...... Dmart & other super markets are allowed for selling essentials, whereas they sell all items including non-essentials...... Every other shop is keeping a Coffee Vending machine / Ice-cream vending machine and opening the shop on that pretext..... Either it should be a complete lockdown except for medical services or let it be open

    Dear Mayyaji, I was talking about the Karnataka Government’s inept handling of the situation…. Kerala will definitely have higher number of cases and may go beyond all others but that is due to the demographics and not due to government inefficiency….. It has higher population density, highest number of NRIs, highest tourist footfalls etc. Also Keralites always welcomed their kith and kin back home even at the peak of Covid unlike Karnataka. The double standards of Karnataka are insisting for RTPCR certificate for other State travellers but not able to make their own officials (forget about people) wear the masks, Created blockade at Kerala borders, were ready to take Oxygen from here…. ICU occupancy is high in Kerala because bed / ICU allocation happens here transparently for people from all sections and not through party offices (nothing like BBMP bed scam)….. Regarding the variant of virus West Bengal and Kerala is affected by the same virus as Karnataka…. But there is one more virus which these two states have eliminated and another two states will very shortly eliminate…. Once that is eliminated, country will be more beautiful place to live, Hope you know that 😊
