This time, the wave is not only different but it also is spreading much faster. During the said period, 5,865 new covid19 positive cases were identified. Out of them, Covid continues to be active among 4,181 persons. Out of 5,865 people, 2,672 are women. The officials say that the infection can be contained only of the people get themselves vaccinated, and follow Covid appropriate behaviour like wearing of masks, remaining at home, maintaining social distancing,, using disinfectants when washing hands etc.
The health department officials believe that the corona active cases are more in the 21 to 30 age group because young people in this age group generally feel that they will not face problems even if they are infected, and this age group is hesitant to follow Covid behaviour. Therefore when they come in contact with people in other age groups, others also get infected. In the third wave, seven persons aged over 70 have died, the officials point out.
