Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (PS/CN)

Beltangady, Dec 16: Even as the news of the gruesome murder of auto driver Ronald Paul shocked Mangalore on Thursday December 16, another murder came to light, this time a retired teacher-turned-financier Perady Kotyappa Poojary (68), who was murdered in Naravi, here on Thursday. He is survived by his two wives and six children.

Perady who arrived here from Bangalore by bus on Thursday morning, was murdered with an iron rod. Prior to this, he had also been hit by a jeep. The vehicle belonging to Vasanth Poojary, who is said to be a rival of Perady, was found at the spot.

The motive behind the murder is believed to be some financial matter over which the two had a fight. Vasanth and his accomplices left their jeep after it plunged into a gutter and absconded.

Venur police registered a case after Nalini, wife of Perady, complained against Vasanth. Senior police officers rushed to the spot.

Police said that Perady was alive for a while despite sustaining severe injuries.

Perady was allegedly threatened 10 days ago near Padegudde in Nellikaru, and over the past two days people in the vicinity of Naravi had been gossiping about his possible murder. A murder attempt had been made on Perady 20 years ago. Sources claim that a local informant had informed the murderers about the time and place where Perady was expected to arrive.

Perady had retired from service many years ago. He had worked as  a teacher in Naravi, Andinje, Aladangady, Nellikaru, and other schools. He was running an educational institution in Hosmaru and was the president of the Naravi Consumer Court. He had also contested panchayat elections, but did not win.

A peace loving district has become a murderous place. Where is the Sri Ram Sena in such cases. Under BJP how can the common man expect Justice when the CM is busy building wealth for himself and his goons. Even the Leaders are blackmailed by him . Now he has made it the Law of the Jungle. All his fellow goons will do the same and get out scot free. God Save Mangalore & Mangloreans.
