New Jersey: Kids, Adults Revel at MCA-EC Christmas Party

Media Release

New Jersey, Dec 17: It was celebration all the way at the Christmas party organized by the Mangalorean Catholic association of the East Coast (MCA-EC), at the St Cecelia’s parish hall in Iselin, New Jersey recently.

People flocked from near and far to enjoy a fun-filled evening and the hall was filled to full capacity. The VP of programmes, Vanitha Furtado gave a warm welcome to all the guests. It was then time for an ice-breaker which put everyone, young and old, in a celebratory mode. It was followed by a Christmas story skit called 'Time Travel' enacted by talented young kids and which brought out the true meaning of Christmas.

The appetizers were a tasty delight comprising chilli chicken, chicken fry and dal wadas. There was alcohol available at the cash bar to pep up the holiday mood. While everyone enjoyed the snacks, Christopher (VP of membership) and Marina (treasurer) felicitated the sponsors who had very generously contributed to the organization. There were some fun games conducted for kids and spot prizes given out to adults, which kept the enthusiasm rolling.

The highlight of the evening was the rib-tickling Konkani comedy skit titled 'Keppyachin kestavaan' put up by Harry Pinto, Mark Mendonca, Sarita Pinto and Melvin Mendonca. The wonderful music played by the 'Humpenkutters' was enjoyed by everyone as they all sang Christmas carols and waited for the entry of a special guest, Santa Claus. He was loaded with a lot of goodies for the children who gathered around to have a glimpse of him followed by parents who wanted to click pictures of Santa with their kids.

As dinner was served, Bernie (VP of public relations) appreciated the contributions of various members in her vote of thanks. The dinner catered by 'Hoysala' was simply tantalizing to everyone’s taste buds with some guests raving about the 'coorgi' pork, and some others reminiscing their mom’s cooking with the delicious 'green masala mutton curry'.

The live band did an awesome job in keeping the people rocking on the dance floor non-stop for more than two hours. For the organizers it was a job well done, and for everyone, it was indeed an evening they will remember for a long time to come.
