Mysuru, Jan 24: Two senior citizens who were living alone, became man and wife to drive away the boredom of loneliness. Mustafa (85), a resident of Udaya Nagar Ghousianagar in the city, married 65-year-old Fatima Begum.
The children and grandchildren of these two attended the wedding, witnessed the rare occasion and extended their best wishes to the newlyweds.
Mustafa had married off his nine children out of income earned from sheep farming. He had lost his wife Khurshid Begum, two years ago. As all his children were married and living elsewhere, Mustafa wanted to have a companion. He contacted Fatima Begum (65) who lived in the same extension, and expressed his interest to marry her. Begum and her family approved of the relationship.
The children of the aged couple said they were initially surprised at the plan but respected the wishes of their parents with the hope that both of them will be able to live happily in one another's company.
