Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 26: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, January 26, reported 888 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 1,392 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,29,934 out of which 5,325 are currently active.

As many as 904 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,731. Out of which, four deaths were reported on Wednesday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,14,00,980 as fine in 94,246 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 1,392 new cases were reported on Wednesday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 6,660. A total of 502 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Udupi taluk reported 690 cases, Kundapura 363 and 337 cases in Karkala. Two cases were from out of the district.

A total of 10,09,993 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,53,642 have received both doses.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
