Attack on PM Despicable, Congress Solidly Behind Him: Sonia

New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Sunday said the party "solidly" supports Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his "unwavering devotion" to the nation's prosperity and called the opposition's "personal attack" on him "despicable".

"Manmohan Singh has shown unwavering devotion towards the progress and prosperity of the nation. The party stands solidly behind him," the Congress chief said in her address to the 83rd plenary being held here.

"I want to say something about our prime minister. He is the embodiment of sobriety, dignity and integrity. The BJP's personal attack on him is downright despicable."

"On our behalf, I want to compliment his wise leadership for remaining calm amidst the storm, for his unwavering devotion to the progress and prosperity of the nation," she added.

The strong support by Sonia Gandhi to Manmohan Singh comes at a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party and other opposition parties have criticised the alleged inaction of the prime minister in the 2G spectrum scandal and other graft cases.

    We don't care about whether all congress is solidly behind him or not. But we all are all with him, for his honesty, integrity and progressive thinking.

    P M is like puppet. you donot have any choice but to support him. you donot have any other candidate who can lead the post. all are corrupt. Though pm non corrupt he is mom on corruption. which is biggest crime. after 60 years of ruling congress not got up from sleep to talk of corruption/ so many years they looted india.

    The BJP wants"JPC"to prove Mr.Manmohan Singhs culpability and to provethat some crores of Mr. Raja went to Congress.Ultimately the BJP end in proving that Mr.Sing is too much of a gentleman.He is too decent to interfer in every day working of ministery.He trusts his people.This is what happens to most of us.Secondly,the allegged loot of Raja may have remained only with the DMK.The Congress and Mrs.Sonia Ghandhi did not get a rupee of it.She will be exonerated by her principle opponents.The BJP must promote their own Leaders.Now everybody is speaking about Mr.Sing and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.They are in limelight,and talk of every discussion.
