Kundapur: Woman who came searching for work becomes GP president

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Jan 29: She was a woman who migrated from one village to the other, working on a daily wage basis. Her migrations came to an end after she arrived in Udupi district. During the last two decades, she had worked as a coolie at various places. Now she has become the president of a gram panchayat. The woman who worked for others for wages has grown in stature and become a guiding light for many.

Bheemavva who belongs to Bagalkot district worked in various villages in Udupi district during the last 27 years. Now she has won over the heart of the people of Tallur village in Kundapur taluk and become its president. She encouraged her four children to study and one of her sons has now become a soldier. Even after becoming gram panchayat president, Bheemavva has not stopped working as a coolie.

Bheemavva had no inkling of politics. It is interesting to know how she became the panchayat president.

A few years ago, Bheemavva had come to Kundapur taluk from Kaup taluk. She was hired by former panchayat member Karan Kumar, for some work. Karan noticed that she worked honestly and also made her son a soldier. He sensed that she can work honestly for the welfare of her village. He convinced her to fight the panchayat election from a constituency that is reserved for the people belonging to scheduled tribes. In the election held in December 2020, Bheemavva fought against the odds and got elected.

Bheemavva who worked honestly when she was a coolie, has succeeded in getting blessings of the voters. She has succeeded in retaining the faith of the people. Having gone through the hardships of life, she knows the problems the people face in getting government facilities. Being the president, she always responds to the needs of the people readily and won the good wishes of the people.

Bheemavva says that God supports those who are honest and hardworking. She has shown that honesty and a people-friendly attitude can do wonders. Her simple life and honesty are things which the other politicians have to imbibe.

I am amazed at some comments . The lady GP President has all the right to become what she is now . She is working hard , she is talented in her work and she is knowledgable . There are many highly qualified people who would not know anything about Govt papers , land papers or survey number . Just go and talk to a normal person in Village who might have just gone to basic school and they are well Breast about everything of village and taluk . They have root knowledge and this is what is needed . BTW it is highly educated people who makes big scam in this world not a illiterates . So my Salute goes to Bheemavva and people of Tallur for giving her a chance . If she gets Padma Award - so be it and she deserves it more than many u worthy educated who have bought it in the past.

Reservation, honest, daily wage etc. Etc. Ok. But qualification is very important to read and sign and take decision. Otherwise she would be puppet in the hands of crooked members/people.

I think it's better to ready to go to Delhi next year to take Padmashri award. I think BJP has already noted her name. It hardly makes any difference in Our country whether any one is educated or not.
