Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 29: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, January 29, reported 627 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 579 cases.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,31,755 out of which 4,792 are currently active.
As many as 795 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,744. Out of which five deaths were reported on Saturday.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,14,20,830 as fine in 94,436 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
A total of 579 new cases were reported on Saturday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 5,642. A total of 1,036 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Udupi taluk reported 320 cases, Kundapura 161 and 93 cases in Karkala.
A total of 10,10,073 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,54,014 have received both doses.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
