Beltangady, Feb 1: A two-wheeler, gold ornaments and cash totally valued at Rs 1,35,100 were stolen from the house of Sulaiman, son of the late Hassan Saheb, when the family was away. Sulaiman reported that he had locked his house at Kakkejalu in Ujire village and left for Bhadravathi on January 22 morning. When he came back at around 9 pm on January 23, his Activa two wheeler kept in the sit-out, cash Rs 60,000 placed inside an almirah and gold ornaments, totally valued at Rs 1,35,100 were found to have been stolen. He said that the two-wheeler key was stolen from his house and the almirah was ransacked by the thieves.
The Beltangady police, who registered a case, took Imtiaz (37), son of B Shekhabba, resident of Chinnigudde House, Mundaje village, Beltnagady into custody and recovered Rs 3,500 in cash, a pair of ear studs, two rings and the stolen Activa two wheeler. The value of items seized from him has been put at Rs 78.000.
Imtiaz is likely to be produced in the court on Tuesday February 1.
