Riyadh, Feb 1: International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict areas (ALIPH) foundation will receive $30 million aid from Saudi authorities. An announcement to this regard was made by the concerned authorities of the Kingdom on Monday.

Minister for culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan announced this during the second conference of the donors, which was held in Paris.

The minister said that this donation is part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 development plan. He also said that the kingdom is working on initiatives to protect the heritage and cultural sites by training specialists and empowering them.

The Prince said that the collective efforts are crucial to strengthening the roles of cultural heritage as an essential contributor to peace building, promoting social cohesion and providing deeper understanding of cultural diversity and memory.

Separate talks were held by the prince with the director of Louvre museums Laurence Des Cars and Chairman of ALIPH foundation, Thomas Kaplan and Salim Al Mahrooqi, minister for heritage and Tourism of Sultanate of Oman.

Prince Badr, after the meeting with French counterpart, tweeted, “The Saudi-French partnership, with the collaboration of the Royal commission for AlUla and the French agency has been a successful model for nearly four years and the best is yet to come.”
