Mangaluru, Feb 3: The city North station police have arrested two men for cheating a woman for cherating her of lfew akhs of money by fraudulently leasing her a house with false documents and a fake owner.

Pradeep alias Deepak Savio Andrade and Imtiyaz are the accused arrested by the police in this connection.

A complaint was filed by the victim Priya K R of Beltangady. She is employed at Radha Medicals in Karangalpady. She was searching for a house in the city in June 2020 for two years. Accused Pradeep showed herc an apartment on K S Rao road and fixed a price of Rs 5 lac as lease amount for two years. Pradeep and Imitiyaz introduced another member of their con gang Brijesh as Mohammed Ashraf, owner of the said apartment.

In February 2021, when Priya was residing on lease in the said apartment, Mohammed Ali, the original owner of the apartment visited the flat and came to know that his flat is illegally leased out to Priya. Priya filed a complaint in this regard with the police.

Both the accused were arrested by the police on February 1. Investigations also revealed that both accused Pradeep and Imtiyaz had been arrested earlier on three for fraudulent dealings and were out on bail.

This operation was carried out by the ASI Gurappa Kanti, constables Madeva Maang and Esha Prasada under the leadership of police inspector Raghavendra Byndoor of north police station and with the guidance of ACP P A Hegde of central sub division as per the directions of the city police commissioner N Shashikumar, DySPs Hariram Shankar and Dinesh Kumar.
