Udupi, Dec 24:
Christmas in the district is being celebrated in a unique way - though Santa Claus is quintessential to the festival, a group of talented craftsmen have come together to do something more, by creating a 16-foot tall Santa Claus.

The Santa Claus has been created using 25 metres of cloth, one kilogram of cotton, stuffed with a large quantity of hay and thermocol. The creation is the result of four days of hard labour by the group, comprising Vishwanath, Yogi Malpe, Jaya Ashwat and others.

The Santa Claus was taken in a procession and installed at UBMC Church premises here on Friday December 24 evening.

Nithyanand Olakadu of district Nagarika Samiti supervised the creation of the Santa which was sponsored by Jos Alukkas and Gowri Silks.
