Mangalore, Jan 2: Praveen Bhai Togadia, general secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) International, called upon Hindus to stand united in protecting their rights.

Addressing a keynote speech at the Hindu Samajotsava organized by Shree Hanumat Shakti Jagarana Samiti Mangalore at Nehru Maidan on Sunday January 2 Togadia, who was at his usual vituperative best, called upon Hindus to ensure protection of cows and construction of a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya within two years. He also ridiculed the behaviour of Governor Bharadwaj for refusing to sign the anti-cow slaughter bill proposed by the state government and used strong words such as calling him ‘Governor of Pakistan’.

Togadia derided the Congress terming it a new incarnation of Islam.

Thousands of people and the numerous police at the venue watched anxiously as to what would happen. But at 6.00 pm when Togadia spoke, the huge gathering received it with loud applause.

Strongly criticizing the stand of Congress leaders like P Chidambaram, Digvijay Singh, and Rahul Gandhi among others he said they are all against the unity of Hindus. He said that Hinduism is a combination of meditation and science.

The programme was organized as a part of the Ayodhya Sri Ramajanmabhoomi campaign and the  ‘Poornahuthi’ of Hanuman Shakti Jagaran Yajna, in the presence of religious leaders, saints, and swamijis and saw the presence of as many as one lac Hindus.

Social worker and entrepreneur Dayananda Pai, Bangalore, presided over the programme.

In his address, he called upon Hindus to sacrifice for the nation. He announced a Rs 1 crore fund for the purpose of constructing the Ram Mandir.

Shree Vishweshwateertha Swami, Pejavar Mutt, in his benedictory speech, said that not a single Hindu can rest till the removal of untouchability and said that Hindu Samajotsava plays a great role in bringing Hindus under one roof.

Shree Jagadguru Ramananda Swami, Kollya, Shree Gurudevananda Swami, Odiyoor, Shree Rajashekarananda Swami, Vajradehi Mutt Gurupur, and Shree K S Nithyananda Swami of Veda Vijnan Mandir, Chikmagalur, also delivered benedictions.

Prior to the stage programme, a grand procession was carried out from Dr Ambedkar Circle in the city to the venue of the Samajotsava beginning at 3.45 pm via Hampankatta where various cultural troupes depicted the richness of Hinduism.

Daijiworld has webcast the Hindu Samajyotsava till the end.

The Hindus and the rest of the religions must have unity within itself. India is a pluralistic society. All the cities and villages have people of different faiths.

When each religious group gets too strong in their unity and create an atmosphere of insulation, some frictions will develop in the overall peace of the society.

We all need to work hard to create unity among residents of all religions in the same village or
city for the total peace of the nation.

This rotten junk Togadia came here to spoil the peaceful atmosphere in the name of religion . He doesnt know what Islam or Hindu dharma stand for. Yes Hindus need unity. But this samajotsava is not promoting unity but spoiling the unity amongst indians and amongst its own neighbours. He is a hate monger and uncivilised person. He is promoting untouchablity and caste system in the name of religion. I cant find a low caste person on the dias and its decorated by upper caste people only. People should know the hidden agenda. In the past hindu rulers fought hindu rulers and muslim rulers fought muslim rulers not for unity but for expansion and superemacy. Can this junk Togadia re write the \Indian history. There are hindu and muslim betrayers. All were selfish. We dont need lessons of unity and patriotism from this rotten hate mongers. We are united and we love our hindu brothers and we love our hindu/christian neighbours. We are all human beings and Indians. Thats it Mr Junk

All most all Hindu festivals are celebrated with unity take it Ganpathi, Holi, Krishnastmi, diwali, theru, melas etc., hindus gether together in thousands on the roads to celebrate with loud bang and bash, and so far no one stop them to do so. Some of the comments surprised me to learn that few people feel pity and few wonder finally some unity among Hindus. It is nice if they realize early this is not unity among Hidus but deivision among Nation in the name of religion by few people for their own gain.

    1,280 Religious Books,
    10,000 Commentaries,
    more than one lakh sub-commentaries
    for these foundation books,
    Million gods,
    variety of Aacharyas,

    still everyone goes to the
SAME TEMPLE ...and gather together as we can see in Samajotsava
whether unity is for Hindus or others?

    Hindus never quarreled each other
for the last ten thousand years in
    the name of religion.

Only Politicians & Britisher tried to divide and rule.

HINDU SAMJOTSVA IS A VERY GOOD IDEA. WHY IN A HINDU COUNTRY, WHERE THERE ARE 80% HINDUS NEED A DAY LIKE THIS? THIS SHOWS AMONG HINDUS THEMSELVES THERE IS NO UNITY. WHY THIS OUT CRY FOR UNITY? UNITY IS NOT BROUGHT BY ONE OR TWO DAYS RALLY OR GATHERING. SOME OF US HAVE COME TO SEE THE THAMASHA. TOGADIA HIMSELF IS THE MAIN CULPRIT TO SPLIT HINDU SOCIETY, AND ON THE STAGE HE IS PROCLAIMING UNITY. UNITY AMONG HINDUS IS BROUGHT BY OFFERING FREE MEDICAL AID, FREE SCHOOLING, FREE FOOD, PROGRAMS FOR WOMEN, UPLIFTMENT OF LOWER CASTES AND BUILDING INSTITUTIONS LIKE VIRENDRA HEGGADE OF DARMASTHALA, OR CREATING OPPORTUNITIES LIKE SATYASAI BABA OR WORKING FOR THE POOR LIKE SRI RAMAKRISHNA ASHRAM MEMBERS, OR OFFRING FREE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS BY PEOPLE LIKE TATAS, THIS WHAT BRINGS UNITY AMONG HINDUS, NOT BY CARRYING YELLOW FLAGS, RIDING BYKES, AND CONDUCTING HUGE RALLIES. OF COURSE INDIA DOES NOT LACK PEOPLE, YOU ASK SHARUK KHAN OR AMIR KAHN OR AISHWARYA RAI, OR AMITHAB BACCHAN, PEOPLE WILL GATHER MUCH MORE THAN THIS PARTICULAR GATHERING. JAI HO HINDU UNITY, OF COURSE NOT THROUGH RALLYS. JAI HO HINDU SAMAJ, THE MOST TOLERANT AND HOSPITABLE RELIGION OF THE WORLD. JAI HO. JAI HO. JAI HO BARAT MATAKI, JAI HO.

I am of the opinion that these kind of rallys are just a way to divert the attention of the general public from important issues such as poor education, poor infrastrcture and mis-management by the political leaders. Why dont VHP take up these issues when most of the people who are affected by these are Hindus? See what happened in Bihar? India can be only be transformed through educating its citizens, through increased infrastructure and good governance.

What a great comment from Fr. Joachim. It is a high time that Hindu's start their own charitable and other institutions. It is these great human features that would have a lasting impression on the society and not conducting a procession and an inciting speech by the Chief guest. I believe PBT made many political statements rather than societal. Samajotsava is supposed to be a unity building exercise rather than inciting the public against a particular political party. Hindus, please do not be divided from your own. Let us be united and build a strong society. Bharat Mata ki JAI.

    dear Friends
i am happy to note that many a people commenting on hindu samajotsava. comming together is always good and essential. hindus should come together to commit themselves to build this country along with peoples of other faiths. hardly we find any leprosoria, house for the destitues, dispensaries, charitable hospitals, children's homes, schools for the underprivileged etc run by the hindu community. everyday on an average 5-10 people come to our institue asking for help. when we tell them, that if we offer them something, then we'll be accused of forceful conversion. we tell them to go to bd or any other temples. but they tell us that nobody gives them anything. what this phenomena tells us? people come for requesting blood, even a swamiji too came in need of blood, we offered generously, where are the hundreds and thousands of youngmen? i did my masters in Sanskrit and pali, i teach philosopy of vedas, upanisads and bagavadgita and nowhere i found that we have to hate others to survive. dharmo rakshati rakshitaha. one lives according to dharma(not mata),both dharma and the follower will be preserved. let us all join hands to help the needy, uncared and unloved people. let us develop friendship in our neighbourhood and build good relationship rather than blaming each other and ruining our lives. BHARAT MATA KI JAI.

2, Jan 2011 a new history created in Mangalore The catholic traditional, more than 60 years old evchuaristic procession on the first Sunday of the New Year postponed for the first time in the history of Mangalore. All this happened just because the peaceful catholic society and the representatives did not realize that they need permission for the procession.on preparation of the samjostsava the aggressive activists stopped private vehicles and put stickers of VHP flag but many of them removed themselves just after driving a hundred meters away. The peace loving Hindus do not want this stickers on their cars. All this Thogadia drama is to promote and sell the shampoo and cosmetic products made from Gomuthra. He applied these cosmetics at the stall and must have washed his face with special sterilizing agents .

Except Praveen Bhai Togadia's speech, Samajotsava may be good. His speech sounded like this is a political party rally rather than a Hindu Samajotsava.

India is a great Country. Unity in diversity is the fabric of Indain society. During the cource of war on Independence, without looking at relegion, caste, creed, and colour people fought and sacrificed their life for the sake of secureing the freedom. Now I request the relegious leaders do not mix up relegion with politics and you know it will help only fundamentalist not only to acheive their selfish goals but it will surely tends to disturb the communal harmony which is not good for the Nations development activities.
