BJP Illegally Collecting Election Funds: Congress

IANS

Bhopal, Jan 5: The Congress Tuesday accused Madhya Pradesh's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Prabhat Jha of illegally collecting funds from people for party candidates contesting the Jan 6 municipal elections.

Spokesperson of Madhya Pradesh Congress J.P. Dhanopia wrote to the state Election Commission Tuesday and demanded action under the model code of conduct.

Municipalities to which election will be held Jan 6 are: Shajapur, Sheor, Mandsaur and Shahpur.

"Newspaper reports have shown that on January 1, state (BJP) president Jha collected Rs.12 lakh for the party candidate Pradeep Chandervansi in Shajapur and Rs.41 lakh for the Mandsaur candidate to spend in elections, which is illegal and leads to increase corruption during polls," Dhanopia wrote.
