Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 22: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, February 22, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 15 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,35,321 out of which 225 are currently active.

As many as 63 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,843.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,57,580 as fine in 95,729 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 15 new cases were reported on Tuesday. The total active Covid cases are 141. A total of 59 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Udupi taluk reported 10 cases, Kundapura 2 and 1 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,48,953 people have received first dose of vaccination and 9,257,790 have received both doses and 43,520 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
