Mangaluru, Feb 25: Surayya Anjum, a Congress leader who issued a statement relating to wearing of the HIjabs reportedly has received threats to her life. She has registered a complaint in the women's police station in the city relating to the incident.
Addressing the students through a live video, Surayya had advised the girl students who are insistent on wearing the Hijabs to hold the country ahead of religious matters. "Can there be any religion greater than education? We have to maintain equality in educational institutions by wearing the uniforms," she had commented in the video.
A few days later, Anjum stated, she got threats and abusive words both over phone and video, which compromised her dignity and posed threat to her life. She also stated that posts uploaded in the Instagram pages and social websites, as well as messages which were in the form of harming her honour were spread through the social media and she was posed threat to her life.
