Kevin Misquith’s 10th Live Music Concert at Loretto

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jan 7: Kevin Misquith and his livewire band “Milestone”, will present his 10th Kevin Misquith live concert at Loretto, Bantwal, on 16th January 2011. The live concert will provide an opportunity to Konkani music lovers to get a taste of a different kind of Konkani music for which Kevin and his band is known for. Kevin and his band has been creating ripples across the Konkani music world with their robust on-stage performances and passionate singing, and this has won them a dedicated band of followers and admirers in Konkani music. This being the 10th live concert, dazzling performer Kevin Misquith and the band “Milestone”, has certainly come a long way within a short period, to find a strong foothold in Konkani music world with their peppy music, which is full of life.

Innovation has been the keystone of Kevin Misquith shows, who has succeeded in establishing a niche in the competitive contemporary Konkani music world by being ‘different’. This has worked wonders for the band which has been climbing the ladder of popularity in Konkani music circles for the sheer energy they exude in their music . It goes to the credit of Kevin that within a short period of his music career he has been able to perform consistently doling out quality music with 9 music nites and 3 music albums to his credit.

Armed with enthusiasm and with oodles of talent to boot, Kevin and his band is soon coming out with a project involving a series of concerts across the Konkani speaking states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra, and also around the world, with a view to reach out to a wider section of Konkani music lovers spread across. Kevin Misquith, the lead singer and the main force behind the band Milestone says “our target is to reach about 65,000 audiences through our live shows and even more through the media. We are working to create one of the best Konkani music albums with the vision of taking Konkani music to newer heights and in this task we need the support and encouragement of all concerned ”.

Zeitgeist

Bringing out an album is also a part of the project and the band plans to release and promote it during the series of concerts they are planning as part of this project. The main theme of the live concert/album will be POP-ROCK-FOLK and is aimed at providing a form for exhibiting the bubbling talent in the band which comprises young and prolific performers. They will be making use of advanced sound and light technology to have an ace effect, which is a must in live music programmes to create necessary impact. The band will avail the services of the best musicians from the Konkani belt and also from across the country. The main thrust of the project Kevin Misquith says, “is to enrich Konkani music without distorting its original essence”. The band aspires to treat Konkani music lovers with an unusual blend of music and lyrics, something that is not experienced or dabbled by other Konkani music groups. Noted Konkani poets of the region will pen the lyrics of the songs of the album while Kevin Misquith will compose the music.

“Our aim it to make this the biggest Konkani event with the idea of reconnecting with the youth of today who have been alienated from Konkani music. The show will also be a family entertainer as we want to touch the hearts of all Konkani music lovers. We are the only ‘present day youngsters’ who have enthusiastically dedicated our heart, soul, mind and energy to spread Konkani music continuing in the footsteps of great Konkani legends like Wilfy, Jerome and many others”.

The Milestone band comprising Ashwin Sequeira, Avin Mascarenhas, Patson Pereira, Jason D Souza, Floid and Daffnel Concesso will provide music for the live event. Robin Sequeira, Royston, Lavita Lobo along with Kevin Misquith will be the singers during the live concert.

Finding a Niche

Kevin Misquith, the lead vocalist and the main force behind the formation of Milestone band, has emerged as a singer and composer of repute in Konkani music world performing consistently over a period of time to find a niche in Konkani music world. He emerged on the Konkani music scene with the release of his Konkani debut album “Rupnem” in 2004. Following the success of the first album he released another Konkani album “Tuji Yaad” in 2007, which became a hit to reaffirm his credibility as an emerging and talented Konkani music performer. Emboldened by the good response, Kevin released his third album “He Jeen” in 2008, which has also elicited good response both from Konkani and Non-Konkani music lovers. “He Jeen” album was nominated for the Global Konkani Music awards and won the “best lyricist” award at the competition. Kevin has also staged several music shows in the last few years winning accolades and admiration from Konkani music lovers.

He formed the music band “Milestone” in 2009 along with co-founder Ashwin Sequeira and is recognized as the most youthful and talented band consisting of an enthusiastic bunch of young musicians who are determined to give a totally new genre of Konkani music to music enthusiasts. The band has regaled the audience with their zestful performance ranging from soft ballads, disco, rock, pop, folk fusion and foot-tapping baila numbers, with a touch of costal flavor. Kevin Misquith and Milestone have performed a series of concerts in Mangalore, Udupi and Bangalore and are will soon perform in other parts of the country also. Though the band does not want language to be a barrier, they say their first priority is always to promote Konkani music.

The show in Loretto is organized by the Parish Pastrol Council of Loretto under the President ship of Fr Cyprian Pinto. Daijiworld.com is the official media partner of the music project.

Kevin and Milestone certainly deserves the support and cooperation of the Konkani world/ Konkani organizations and associations. This can be done by providing them an opportunity to perform at their events, so as to enable them to reach out to a wider audience and to spread the flavor of Konkani music to a wider section of the society.

Bravo!! congrats Kevin on your great achievement, we here in Dubai have missed an opportunity to witness your nite and the reason is the organizers here are happy inviting same old faces and lack the will to encourage the new generation and hence we don t get any chance to see any new musicians in konkani, but still you are great going wish to see you soon performing here not only in Dubai but all over the world, many more milestones will come your way, keep going!!
