Mangaluru, Mar 2: A BJP MLA has reiterated the statement earlier made by minister K S Eshwarappa, on the floor of the house. The statement of Eshwarappa had given rise to chaos and the session of the legislature had to be cut short. It has to be seen whether by repeating the minister's statement, MLA Harish Poonja, has stirred up a hornet's nest.
A video of Harish Poonja, who represents Beltangady constituency in the state assembly, announcing that the Hindu society will hoist the Bhagwa Dhwaj at the Red Fort, is making the rounds now. He is also heard saying that this also is the determined bid of the BJP. He made this statement when taking part in the protest organized by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti at Beltangady to condemn the killing of Hindu activist, Harsha, in Shivamogga.
In the talk delivered in Tulu language, Harish Poonja said that the murder of a Hindu activist happened due to the conspiracy and abetment of the Congress. He said that crores of people like Harsha will be born in the state and fight against the anti-social forces for the protection of Hindu society.
"Just because Eshwarappa said that the Bhagwa Dhwaj will be hoisted at the Red Fort, the Congressmen undertook protests in the legislature and forced the session to be cut short. But being the Beltangady legislator, I hereby state that no party can stop us from hoisting the Bhagwa Dhwaj over the Red Fort. Hoisting of this flag is the resolve of the BJP and the Hindu society," he said. He however, clarified that the Bhagwa Dhwaj will be hoisted below the national flag.
