Byndoor, Mar 3: After a car crashed into a road divider on the evening of Wednesday March 2 near Kirimanjeshwar on national highway 66, one person lost his life while three others suffered injuries of different degrees.
The deceased was Akshay (23), son of R Vijay from Bengaluru. Tejas (24), Pavan (23) and Harsha (24) were injured. They are said to be out of danger and stand admitted into a private hospital in Kundapur.
After the car hit the road divider near Kirimanjeshwar, it jumped over to the other side of the highway. Akshay, who was seated in the back, suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. The injured were immediately taken to hospital in a private ambulance with the support of locals. The mortal remains of the deceased were kept in the mortuary of the government hospital at Kundapur.
A case in this connection was registered in Byndoor police station. Byndoor police sub-inspector Pavan Nayak and staff visited the spot and scrutinized the scene of the accident.
It is learnt that these four, who were classmates in the PUC, had arrived at Honnavar from Bengaluru on February 26 in an Innova car belonging to Tejas. They had toured Karwar, Gokarna and other places and were on their way to Bengaluru on Wednesday when the accident happened at 4.30 pm. Akshay was a photographer by profession while Tejas is a student. Pavan is employed in an IT firm and Harsha works for a medical procurement company, it is learnt.
