Moodbidri, Jan 14: On Thursday January 13, the fusion of Hindustani classical vocal rendition by Pandit Jayateertha Mevundi, and Carnatic classical singing by Vidwan Abhishek Raghuram, bathed the audience in ecstasy and a sense of contentment. Those present at ‘Alva's Virasat’ being held at Shobhavana in Mijar, kept their ears and minds open to take in the nectar of music supplied in ambundance to them by the two maestros.

The musical fusion, which went on for two hours, left the people asking for more, at the end. The audience listened with rapt attention, as the music permeated through the souls of everyone present, including those who did not have any knowledge of classical singing.

Prof N Narendra Nayak on harmonium, Sharmila Rao on violin, Ramdas Palsule on tabla, Ananta R Krishnan on Mridangam, Mohandas Shenoy on chimes, and Ravi Katti Vinayaka Hegde in Tanpura provided able instrumental support to the duo.

‘Vision of Forever’ variety of dances, which was presented by Ramli Ibrahim and Group from Sutra Dance Theatre from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, also attracted the attention of viewers with intricate formations and artistic presentation.

The programme for the day was inaugurated by Peter from Germany and Yakshagana artiste, M N Samaga and his wife. Dr M Mohan Alva felicitated the artistes by presenting mementos to them.
