Cong-JD(S) to Stage Dharna Before Raj Bhavan Seeking Yeddy’s Dismissal

Bangalore, Jan 14: Squarely blaming the B S Yeddyurappa-led BJP regime for its stubborn refusal to face a debate on the floor of the legislature on the various corruption charges, land scams and allegations of nepotism and other irregularities, the Congress and JD(S) opposition have announced their decision to stage a joint dharna in front of Raj Bhavan seeking dismissal of the Yeddyurappa regime for its undemocratic behavior and abrupt curtailment of the Legislative Assembly session.

All MLAs and MLCs of both parties will participate in the dharna in front of Raj Bhavan seeking the immediate intervention of the Governor H R Bhardwaj by dismissing the most corrupt and undemocratic government, JD(S) floor leader in the Assembly H D Revanna said, while addressing a news conference in Bangalore on Friday.

Revanna announced that his party would also stage a demonstration and dharna in Delhi before Rashtrapathi Bhavan and submit a memorandum listing all the charges and misdeeds of the Yeddyurappa government with documentary evidence as part of the strategy to urge the President Pratibha Patil to take action as ''Karnataka is mired in ramphant corruption, misuse of powers and other irregularities.”

The JD(S) leader declared that his party MLAs would not participate in the next sessions of the State legislative assembly if Speaker K G Bopaiah declined to reject a report submitted to him by Appachu Ranjan of the BJP recommending suspension of 15 the assembly membership of Congress and the JD(S) MLAs.

Strongly attacking the constitution of the panel headed by Appachu Ranjan as “illegal,” the JD(S) deputy leader in the assembly Bandeppa Kashempur said the panel hasdno powers to authorise the Speaker to suspend MLAs.

''The Chief Minister has used a pliant Speaker to cover all scams by not allowing the debate on scams under the adjournment motion sought to be moved by the Opposition,” he said criticizing the actions of the speaker even during the floor test taken by the chief minister in disqualifying the anti-Yeddyurappa MLAs.

Revanna said the Chief Minister has written letters to tashildars of all taluks of Hassan district seeking details on land owned by the family of the former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

But tashildars have reported that no land had been registered in the name of the Deve Gowda family in the district, the JD S) leader claimed.

''Yeddyurappa should stop from leveling baseless charges against Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy, MP,” Revanna said and demanded a CBI probe into alleged involvement of the Chief Minister in land scams.

Lashing out at the ruling party members’ attitude, Revanna said legislative council deputy chiarman Puttanna had been dethroned from the Deputy Chairman’s post in the Council without any reasons. ''Puttanna has not been allowed to speak and thank members for supporting him after he assumed the office,” he said taking sharp exception to the arrogant attitude of ruling party and asserted that the people will teach a befitting lesson to Yeddyurpapa.

BJP Removes State Council Deputy Chairman from Post

Bangalore, Jan 14 (PTI): In a rather unprecedented action in its history, the deputy chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council was today removed from his post by a no-confidence motion moved by ruling BJP, bringing to fore the party's majority in the 75-member Upper House.

The house witnessed an uproar as Opposition Congress and JD(S) protested the no-confidence motion terming it as "undemocratic" and demanded the reason for Puttanna's ouster.

The Opposition parties, which staged a walkout, later declared they would boycott the proceedings.Sources said Puttanna, who belongs to JD(S), had to pay a price for his remarks against the BJP government.

The motion of no-confidence moved against Puttanna by BJP's D S Veeraiah and Doddarange Gowda was supported by 40 members.Leader of Congress Opposition Motamma hit out at the ruling party for resorting to an unprecedented action saying "it will set a bad precedent".

M C Nanaiah of JD(S) pleaded in vain with Chairman D H Shankaramurthy not to take up the motion. As the House took the motion for voting, the Opposition members rushed into the well and launched a dharna, forcing the Chair to adjourn the House briefly. After the House reassembled, the motion was put to vote. The BJP has a strength of 39 members followed by Congress-17, JD(S)-15, JDU-1 and Independents- 3.

No doubt Congress and JDS MLAs are doing useless things like sitting outside the Assembly hall protesting against BJP govenment. All should agree that because of hopeless ruling by BJP government under the leadership of great Vajpayee, it has not come to power afterwards. People know that only Cogress Government will be in a position to rule the country effectively.

This is the last chance to Yeddy government to rule Karnataka with bribery, taking posession of Govt. land and illegal mining etc. Yeddy is the puppet in the hands of Reddies who are minting money by exporting our valuable iron ore.

Very heart aching to watch the scenario created by Cong/JD(S)MLA/Ministers right from the day one BJP assuming the power.Shameless people.Only fit for this kind of ugly acts.Only their criteria is to topple and defame the elected BJP Govt.I am not supporting BJP or any other political parties because all are corrupted in one way or other,All are already maligned by many allegations. Now what they want is to topple the government and grab the chair, thereby they can again mesmerize the public by cheating and false promises.Have you gone through past track records of Gowda family, siddramaya?.They are the one who spoiled entire Karnataka destiny and now they are trying to beat their bush and showing to the public that they are clean. But people are there to watch.Don't think that all the political party members are shrewd and clever.First of all let them correct themselves and then try to pull down the government if the charges levelled against them is proved correct. Now whatever the allegations are just to defame and topple the elected governement. All charges are false and baseless.of course there will some scams/scandals.But this is not the way.During congress rule for the past so many what they did. They also did the same thing what BJP is doing now.Shekar M.P-Mangalore

JDS an Cong. BJP is elected govt. You cant dismiss them by staging dharnas and protest. Work hard and try to dismiss them by ballots and fight your election and defeat them/. That would be more nice and justified.

Instead of dharna its best they carry Mr Boppa on their shoulders and put him in a dirtiest dustbin possible. Even the rats will put him out from there.Boppa has become puppet of Yeddu baba. He is instrumental in helping Yeddubaba by unethically removing MLAS. Boppa now preparing suspend some of prominent opposition MLAS. Mr Apachu and Yeddu and Boppa must have jointly prepared the list of these MLAs.Corrupt ministers are hell bent in keeping Yeddu in power failing which they will be all exposed. Yeddi is only a spectator whereas all activies are spearheaded by corrupt ministers/MLAs.Boppa just implements whatever Yeddy and his gang wants.God alone knows per day perks of Boppa the koppa.

    Nagesh Mamu,
Yedurappa has gone on record confirming he illegally grabbed land for his family members and when caught he gave up the land. His wife died under mysterious circumstances while he was the main accused. After coming to power he squashed up the case and now he is promoting some new lady love who has hundreds of acres of illegal coffee plantations with fake bank documents.

After witnessing all these undemocratic, unprecedented incidents by BJP govt headed by Yeddy,I think in long run BJP is the loser.

It is beyond anybody's guess that a toothless BJP High Command is mute spectator for all misgivings by Yeddy and his dozens of Cabinet colligues.Certainly all these 2.5 years of BJP ruling, BJP/Yeddy laid foundation stone for BAD PRECEDENT in Karanataka State Parliamentary history.Speaker Boppaih is fit to be school parliament speaker rather than state Assembly Speaker!!

Making Dharna in front of Raj Bhavan against Yeddy Govt is of no use.Educating and awareness campign in Village/Booth level by NGOs and political parties may affect a bit.
