Mangaluru, Mar 8: A youth who had visited the house of his aunt in Pilar Prakash Nagar in Ullal to enjoy the festival atmosphere on account of Pilar festival hanged himself in a room on Sunday.
Sourav (21) from Padil took this extreme step. Friends, relatives and others had thronged most of the houses sin Pilar to exult in the festive atmosphere on account of Dompada Bali celebration of Sri Panjandaya Daiva arranged at Pilar, Someshwar, on Saturday and Sunday.
Sourav was on a visit to the residence of Sujata in Pilar Prakash Nagar. He happened to be the son of Sujata's younger sister. He took part in the festival, came back home, had lunch, and then went into a room, informing others that he was feeling sleepy.
In the evening, Sourav's mother went into the room to wake him up but was shocked to find him hanging from the ceiling fan. Ullal police registered a case and sent the mortal remains for post-mortem. Sourav was unmarried. Reason for this abrupt suicide could not be ascertained. The deceased has left behind parents, a brother and a sister.
