Kuwait: Rich Entertainment with Kavita and Bharti at ICS’ ‘Dil Ki Awaz’

Kuwait, January 15:  Indian Cultural Society (ICS) presented ‘Dil Ki Awaz’ with playback singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and laughter queen, Bharti Singh, on Friday January 14, at American International School from 7.30 pm onwards.  The chief guest of the day was the Indian ambassador, Ajai Malhotra, and guests of honor were renowned personalities from Kuwait including ambassadors of Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries.

The programme started with the formal welcome address, delivered by the ICS president and anchor of the day, Ashfaque Ahmed Khan, along with singing of the  National Anthems of Kuwait and India.  Ajai Malhotra, along with the sponsors of the event, then released the souvenir, and spoke a few words.  The entertainment part started with a few dances by the local artistes, and a song sung by Baby Safa Khan.
 
ICS has, in the past, hosted a number of memorable events like ‘Jashn-e-Bahara'n’ with Talat Aziz, and renowned poets, ‘Nazar Ke Samne’, with Kumar Sanu, ‘Taal se Taal’, with Alka Yagnik, ‘Shaam-e-Ghalib’, with Kader Khan, Shaam-e-Sangeet, Shaam-e-Shibani, Suroon- Ki-Shaam, Shaam-e-Ghazal, Geet and Ghazal Nite, Shab- e-Meraj, Jhoomte Sitare and many more. ‘Dil Ki Awaaz’ unfolded a new vista of Indian music and humour with evergreen songs rendered by Bollywood playback singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy, ‘K for Kishore’ fame, Chetan Rana, and rib-tickling comedy by laughter queen, Bharti Singh.

The audience had lot of expectations from female comedian and laughter queen, Bharti Singh, who was performing for the first time in Kuwait. Her skills, punch lines and hilarious situations she created with excellent narration skills, compelled everyone to laugh their hearts out. Astoundingly funny Bharti Singh won over the hearts of the Kuwait audience with her stand up comedies, presence of mind, and sense of humour. She is one of the most famous comedians, having performed in television programmes such as Comedy Circus, Comedy ka King Kaun, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Laughter Knights, Laughter ka Panga, Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo, etc.

Chetan Rana entertained the crowd with his versatile singing capability.  He made the audience to join him with his great voice and poise.  He succeeded in winning over the hearts of the audience with able rendering of several old and new songs.

The audience was electrified by the grand entry of Kavita Krishnamurthy, who has ruled the world of Bollywood music since the last some decades.  She mesmerized the audience till the end with her beautiful voice, excellent control over voice modulations, and adding a touch of emotions in tune with the moods of the songs.  She sung her best solo selections and also duets along with Chetan Rana.  Her exquisite, mellifluous voice, versatility in singing in different styles and types of songs effortlessly, has won her a unique place amongst playback singers, and she has rightly been deemed as a ‘melody queen’. She has performed with artistes spread over three generations. She has lent her voice to actresses, right from Nutan, Helen, Shabana, Sridevi, Madhuri, Manisha, Kajol, Karishma, Aishwarya, Kareena, Rani Mukherjee and other present-day heroines.

Kavita Krishnamurthy is one among those artistes, who have managed to prove themselves in all the fields of music they have chosen to enter, and she has enthralled and dazzled the audiences from around the world with her stage performances, recordings and playback singing.  All the artistes of the show were honored by presentation of mementos.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the Bollywood music, presented under the artiste manager of the event, Subrato A Gosh.  Among the instrumentalists, Prashant Kulkarti was on drums, Richard Edward was on guitar, S R Pillai was on synthesizer, Sanjay Marathe was on keyboard, Indranath Mukarjee was on tabla, and Vasudev Mahathre was on Dholak and Congo.

In general, the programme brimmed with entertainment, and succeeded in mesmerizing the audience and holding them in awe till the very end. Full credit goes to the entertainers, who, with their beautiful voices, exemplary control over tunes, modulations, rib-tickling humour and perfect presentation skills, ensured that the crowd heard them with rapt attention.
