Mangaluru, Mar 9: The city and surrounding places experienced good rainfall on Wednesday March 8 morning.
Intermittent rains were experienced in a number of places right from 2 am. The light drizzle turned into downpour between 5 am and 6.30 am.
Even though the rain has brought down the temperature by a few notches, the affect could be reversed because of hot sun unless more rains are received. Currently the area is enveloped in cloudy weather.
For the last some weeks, the coastal belt was reeling under scorching heat as the sun has been shining brightly right from around 10 am. Yesterday too, the hot and humid condition in coastal Karnataka was unbearable and the people were fondly wishing that it would rain and provide them reprieve from the hot climate.
The meteorological department had predicted some rains to be experienced in the south interior Karnataka and the coast apart from some north Karnataka districts between March 9 and 12 because of depression that has been created over the Bay of Bengal.
