“Nagamandala has great significance in coastal Karnataka where residents worship the serpent God as the practice had come from generations together”, said state higher education minister Dr V S Acharya.


He was speaking at the stage programme held as a part of Nagamandala celebrations at Sri Krishna Mutt, here on Saturday January 15.
 
MLC captain Ganesh Karnic said that despite the regional diversity, Nagamandala celebrations in the district are much splendorous.
 
Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor Mutt in his message to the devotees said that Nagamandala celebrations will be held in Rath Beedhi, with a view to worship Vasuki who stood to protect Lord Krishna. He conveyed peace and happiness to all, since Nagamandala celebrations will be held for global peace and brotherhood.
 
Mumbai entrepreneur Jayakrishna Shetty, Corporation Bank deputy general manager Gopal, Syndicate Bank general manager Santhosh Kamat, Karnataka Bank general manager Jayaram Hande, Sai Radha Constructions proprietor Manohar Shetty, donors Kadambodi Mahabala Poojary, Yadav Kotian and Dix Shipping managing director Devanand Shetty were present on the dais.
 
Swami Laxmivarateerta felicitated Asta Mutt diwan Raghuram Acharya, Venkataramana Mucchintaya, Muralidar Acharya, Vedavyas Tantri, Raghupati Tantri, Srinivas Tantri, Narasimha Acharya, Chandramouleshwar temple priest Chakrapani Tantri during the programme.
 
Nagamandala celebrant - Nagapatri Kakkunje Naganand Vasudev Acharya was felicitated specially by Swami Laxmivarateerta.
 
Shiroor Mutt diwan Latavya Acharya welcomed the gathering.  Vichi Motors proprietor Vaidyanath Acharya proposed vote of thanks.  Gopal Acharya of Puttige Vidhyapeet compered the programme.
 
Choornotsav and Nagamandalotsav were held after the stage programme at Sri Krishna Mutt, here on Saturday night. 
 
Churnotsav was held as part of Saptotsav celebrations followed by Avabratotsav in Madwa Sarovar. Free food offering to all the devotees was also held at the occasion. 
 
Nagamandalotsav was held at the leadership of Nagapatri- Kakkuje Naganand Vasudev Achrya while milk offerings and other puja celebrations were  also held for Lord Subramanya.
