Riyadh: American citizens rescued from Yemen by joint operation of US-Saudi forces

Riyadh, Mar 11: According to the reports of Saudi Press agency two women, citizens of USA, were rescued from Sanaa, capital of Yemen.

Defence ministry of the kingdom confirmed that the women were released in a joint operation of Saudi and US forces. They were in detention of Houti Militia.

The rescued women were taken to Aden and from there to Riyadh by the forces. Brig Gen Turki Al-Maliki said that the women were on a visit to see their families. They were abused by the Houti militia and their passports were also confiscated by them.

Both women were handed over to US officials after they were rescued by Royal Saudi Air Force. After undergoing health check up they were sent to the United States.

The confirmation of the operation was given by the spokesperson of a state department. He thanked both Saudi and Yemeni partner of US forces in bringing their citizens back from the clutches of the Houti militia.
