Moodbidri, Jan 17: The six-day national festival of art and culture, ‘Alvas Virasat’ came to a close on Sunday January 16.

On the last day, ‘Malkambh’ performance by artistes from Jodhpur, ‘Gatkha’ dance presentation by Bir Khasla, Punjab, ‘Cosmic Dance of Shiva’ presented by Samurdra Performing Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, ‘Talwar’ dance by Rajendra Ravar from Gujarat and ‘Bhavayoga’ dance presented by Bhargavi dance troupe from Udupi, succeeded in holding the people spellbound.

A performance presented in the style of ‘Purulia Chav’ from West Bengal, which was choreographed by Jeevanram Sullia, in which a buffalo is hunted down by five lions, looked like real with the students performing the dance form were wearing the attire resembling these animals. This dance was taught to the students of Alvas College by Basu Mehato. This performance kept the people on the edges of their seats.

The highlight of the six-day Virsat was the discipline and order with which the items were presented and events were managed. The students of Alva’s institutions and NCC cadets succeeded in ensuring that order prevailed all through these six days, without giving any chance for untoward incidents. State ministers, MPs, legislators, Swamijis, officials, entrepreneurs, etc., witnessed the programmes by sitting in the rows meant for the audience.

Over 100 foreign visitors from USA, Germany, Germany, Italy etc. witnessed the proceedings on all the six days of the Virasat.

kudos to him. There are not many people like him who encourage and promote cultural wealth of India. You are doing a great service to the nation sir.
