Mangalore, Jan 18:
The ongoing DKCA-Century T20 cricket tournament witnessed a thrilling start to the day with Shine Sports Club Baikampady snatching a close victory against SDM BBM at Nehru Maidan here on Tuesday January 18.

Shine Sports Club luck with the toss continued in the match too as it set a target of 141 for the loss of six wickets, thanks to a brilliant batting display by Alok who smashed 75 and Ravi who made a valuable 20.

Though Arjun of SDM tried his best to restrict the opposition claiming three wickets for 15 runs, his efforts fell just short as his team failed to reach the target despite Jayaraj's unbeaten knock of 50 with Nishith Raj (24) for support.

The second match of the day, between Challenger Friends Club Suralpady (CFC) and Royal Friends Kudroli (RFC) saw an easy victory for CFC Suralpady as they capitalised on their luck with the toss and set RFC a target of 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Nasrullah's 87 runs proved too much for the opposition, even though RFC bowler Abid managed to wreak substantial damage claiming 5 for 25.

However, RFC Kudroli was reduced to 147 for 9 in 20 overs, with Haneef and Javed of CFC taking three wickets each. Tauseef (45) and Muneer (36) of RFC tried to hang on, but in the end it just wasn't enough as CFC went on to win the match by 16 runs.

Why there is not a single cricket stadium in Mangalore where in ODI can be played. What is the BCCI doing sitting on billions of dollars in the name of promoting cricket at the grassroots levels.
